My love of photography began at an early age after receiving a camera as a Xmas gift however it wasn’t something I ever really pursued with much vigor until I went to Art School. That first time you see magic happen when you put the blank paper in the developer and then whoosh presto! 30 seconds later an image appears! It was like nothing else I’d ever seen before!!! This immediacy of the image captivated me straight away – capturing light on film. Developing your films by hand and then hand printing them in the darkroom was something else. A totally organic process and pure as photography can get. Fast forward 10 years and we’re asked to photograph our first wedding. I remember the first wedding we shot like it was yesterday, myself and Toni (My now darling wife, my then art school crush) feeling nervously excited not knowing exactly what the day may bring. So many emotions are flowing on a wedding day, the giddy nervousness and anticipation of the bride and groom, the excitement of the bridal party, the love and pride of family members. Being invited in to share one of the biggest days of a couple’s and their families’ lives is truly a privilege. Capturing these moments of connection that you can really truly “feel” between each couple, making art out of these moments and preserving them for the future generations to come is my passion. The satisfaction you get when you have the bride in tears of joy when she’s looking at her album is a feeling like no other.
